HunnyBee Put Em’ On Blast!

"Beat Biter!Dope style taker! Tell it to your face you ain't nothing but a faker!"
M.C. Lyte "10% dis"

Old Skool vs New Skool- Who gets the K.O.?

So for those that Tweet, you already know that each Monday is “Music Mondays”! Most people post new music/underground music, which I think is cool, but a lot of people don’t realize that most of this new music that’s being blasted over the airways, are just flashbacks from the past with a little auto tune or chop and screw over the main beat. Since I’m new to the game of Blogging, I figured adding a “Special Trend” on Monday’s would be Hot! A topic that you can be sure to get a dose of each week-

  1. I don't think there's a problem with new artists sampling old artists! It's almost a form of praise for that old artist... taking a old song and putting a new spin to it. It's only bad when they completely ruin the original song. But most of the new songs i like just as much (and I must admit - sometimes more) than the old songs!!

That being said - people who "love" music should know their music history and know that most of this "new" shit isn't
new at all but just remixed shit...

  2. i 4got to say it's just like when Gogo bands make a song... what's the difference between a mainstream artist taking a sample from an old song and a Gogo band sampling one of the mainstream artists?

Furthermore, most movies are just old movies redone too....

Everyone is sampling - it's only bad if you as the listener can't tell

  3. oh no! I'm cool with people sampling- I think its def a form of praise- BUT- i just want people to know that this stuff isn't new! I can only call you an artist if your putting new work out there, or atleast mixing it up to the point where i can't tell what's new and old... Hate "artist" aka Dirty Money Diddy- that sample a FULL Biggie song, slap some lyrics (yes he sings now) in one verse, and call himself an artist- WTF did he do? Pimp his boys death out for "mo' money"? Now he's jockin his full rap? lol- Sorry just went on tangent- Diddy was the death of "hip hop" (aka Biggie)
